Purgatory Map Guide: Rotation, Camping & Survival

Bermuda is about close-range fights. Purgatory is different. Purgatory is massive, open, and separated by water. It is a map for Snipers and Strategists.

Many players hate Purgatory because they die crossing the bridges or get sniped from a hill. But if you learn the map, it is actually the easiest map to push rank on because you can avoid fights easily. Here is your survival guide.

1. The Danger Zone: Brazilia

Brazilia is the “Clock Tower” of Purgatory. It is a valley surrounded by hills. If you land here, you will fight 3 other squads.

Strategy: If you want to rank push, avoid landing in Brazilia. However, if the zone ends in Brazilia (which happens 40% of the time), do not stay in the houses at the bottom. Rotate early and take the hills overlooking the town. Height advantage is everything here.

2. Crossing the Water (The Bridge Trap)

Purgatory is split into islands. To get to the safe zone, you often have to cross water. There are bridges, but they are death traps. Campers love to wait at the end of bridges.

How to Cross Safely:

  • Ziplines: Purgatory has many ziplines. They are faster and safer than bridges. Just be ready to jump off if someone shoots you.
  • Swimming (The last resort): Never swim unless you have no choice. You cannot shoot back in water. If you must swim, use a surfboard if you have one, or swim underwater mostly.
  • Amphibious Car: Find the blue car that drives on water. It is slow, but it protects you.

3. Best Loot Spots (Solo Rank)

  • Moathouse: The fancy house in the middle of the lake. It has Level 3 loot. It is risky, but if you win the initial fight, you can camp the zipline and kill anyone trying to leave.
  • Ski Lodge: Located on the far right. It usually has enough loot for a duo and a vehicle spawn nearby. Very safe drop.
  • Golf Course: Open area, but good loot scattered around. Be careful of snipers from the stadium stands.

4. The “Central” Rotation

The area named “Central” usually has a multi-story building. This is a great defensive position. If you have a squad with snipers, holding the roof of Central allows you to control a huge part of the map.

Conclusion

On Purgatory, you need long-range weapons. Throw away your MP40. Pick up an AC80, Woodpecker, or SVD. Keep a vehicle with you at all times because the zones shift drastically across the water. Play the edge, avoid the bridges, and you will survive.
